the day i saw my life change

it burned. it burned so bright it would blind you. but i needed to look. to look and stare for hours. for days. for weeks. i looked at it without blinking for 83 years. for 83 years it's the only thing i saw. but on that day, that day when my life changed, i saw something else. on the corner of my eye, i saw it. i saw it and i knew. the light i was staring at for 83 years was nothing, nothing but the sun.

and so i let the lids rest, wept in silence and never opened my eyes again.

closing

Open up!" he cries out as he bangs on the gallery's metal shutters, "open up!" But she doesn't. "Open up or else I'll never leave!" "We're closed, can't you understand that!?" He knows it too but he tries once more. "Open up, we need to talk." A moment passes without her responding. "Open up... please..." He pauses, and admits it under his breath, "I didn't want this to happen." Not hearing him, she too whispers something to herself, "I didn't want this to happen."

at the top

it was the last day and he found himself at the top of the world. he looked into the distance, saw the city below and trembled. then the angel whispered encouragingly to his ear, "why fall if you can fly?"

it was a good day

It was a good day.
It's been a while since I've seen her and she said she was coming.
She always came when she said she would, she always came.
So when she said she would come, I knew she was coming, because I believe her.
I came. I was there.
It was a good day.

candle-lit girl

"The streets are full of monsters," her friends would always tell her, "you should never come out at night or else they will eat you." But she never believed their stories. She wanted to prove to pipo, noknok and the rest of the gang that there are no monsters and that it was just a story that old people tell to keep the children at home. So one night, when everyone was asleep, she went out of the house and walked into the darkness armed only with her slippers and a candle.
